Overview

The Wild Rose 2 Wind Farm is a 192 MW renewable energy facility currently in development by Capstone. The project is located in Cypress County, Alberta, approximately 30 km southeast of Medicine Hat. Capstone acquired the project from NaturEner Canada Inc. in November 2021.

The project assets are held by Wild Rose 2 Wind LP, a subsidiary of Capstone. This includes the Power Plant Approval for the wind farm and the Permit & License for the project substation.

Following Capstone's acquisition of the Project, a lot of work has been done to ensure the wind farm's long-term success. Capstone has secured two offtake agreements to sell the power and renewable attributes generated by the Project to Pembina Pipeline Corporation (105 MW over 15 years) and City of Edmonton (78 MW over 20 years). In addition, Capstone has updated the project layout and selected a turbine manufacturer that will allow for a significant reduction the overall project footprint and minimize potential impacts.
